A few surprises for me here, Damian de Allende has been left out and JP Peterson been brought in on the bench. Coach Meyer opting for experience in the side, also selecting Zane Kirchner over Willie le Roux who hasn’t even made the bench.That being said, the trusted and steady Patrick Lambie starts at 10 and Morne Steyn not  making the match day 23 at all. Meyer has covered his basis with the backline, however, as JP Peterson can double as a centre or a wing. Pat Lambie is a utility back, and even though he’s only been picked as a flyhalf, should the need arise, in this game against Japan, he can play at fullback and centre too. Lwazi Mvovo is wing and fullback which will allow Pat to focus on his role at 10. I won’t be surprised to see the inclusion of Fourie du Preez early in the second half to maximise his game time before the knockout stages of the tournament and JP Peterson coming off the bench for Jean de Villiers. Adriaan Strauss is an obvious swap for Bismark and Trevor will most probably replace Jannie. Pieter-Steph duToit will most likely run on for Victor around the 60th minute of the game. That being said, it is worrisome to think who is going to take over the role of captian, should Jean, Victor and Bismark all be off the field. Leadership reigns could be handed either to Beast, Adriaan, Fourie or even Pat. But only time will tell for the Boks. Kickoff for this game will be at 17:45, on Saturday on SS1, 201.

Life in the Day When Kovsies Play

An explosive experience indeed!!!..

10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1………….. Getting ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Varsity Cup netball season 3,round 3 took  off once again with great intercepts and ball techniques.

I personally got a chance to meet the Kovsies netball team, and their awesome managing team.

I can’t begin to describe the great experience I had getting to know them and having a ‘behind the

scenes’ with them. The dedication and hard work they put in is indescribable but luckily it shows off

on court!

At first, I was SOOOOOO shy and overwhelmed while I got to meet a few players I look up to_Karla

Mostert, the queen of defence and Ane’ Botha. But after a while these girls made me feel as if I was

part of their little family. Jokes were flying around, I could feel their unity by just seeing how their

manager Corne’ offered protein foods to keep them focused, healthy and energized for the

upcoming game. It actually made me want to be part of them, not just interviewing them and being

a fly on the wall but actually uniting with them. The most humble and talented team…

Kovsies thrashed UCT 91-19 . For a moment I zoned out just embracing each players tactic. An

amazing sight it was indeed!!! Not even the joy of winning a million dollars could top that exciting

feeling I had next to the court. I bet that it feels even better on court!

After such an astonishing game, with pride I can say that those girls definitely made me realize my

dream and making it better..

My message to Mrs Burtha de Kock, 13 years of coaching the Kovsie netball team, you are the

BOSS!!! I salute you and all your hardworking players.

Well done. We believe in  you because in the end, only a Kovsie knows the feeling.

Varsity Sports Netball

Tonight the Varsity Sports Netball defending Champions, Kovsies, play host to the UCT Ikeys. Kovsies are two time defending champions and have gotten their campaign off to a flying start, recording victories over NWU Pukke and a bonus point victory over VUT. The ladies will look to record their third win on the trot tonight before heading over to UP Tuks, where all 8 teams will rendezvous for a bumper weekend on the 20th & 21st of September.11896506_1564721150415230_6820975014687126057_o
